Seeing the Northern Lights, also known as Aurora Borealis, is a unique and breathtaking experience. Finnish Lapland is one of the best places in the world to see the Aurora. I propose to take you with me on an Northern Lights Aurora Tour in Lapland Inari region!
NEW TOURS available 17-25 November 2017.
I also organise private tours, so don’t hesitate to contact me early for any queries to guarantee my availability.
You already know it: Finnish Lapland is a perfect place to witness the Aurora. But sometimes the weather does not cooperate, and there are clouds right above the Inari village. That’s where I come in.
I will take you along in my comfortable car and we will drive to clearer skies, following the weather forecast and away from the village lights.
I will usually pick you up at the reception of Hotel Inari at 7 PM. Sometimes there are chances for earlier Aurora, so we might need to agree on leaving earlier. Pick-up at other locations like Ivalo or Saariselkä are also possible (read below).
After a short but important safety briefing, we will start driving in the direction of the good weather. This will bring us either East to the Russian border, or further North or West to the Norwegian border. Sometimes we may even have to enter Norway and take photos on the shore of the Arctic Ocean! I will regularly monitor the weather forecast updates on my smartphone to refine our search. I have been driving all these roads over and over again the past 5 winters. I know each and every of them perfectly with all the safe and photogenic places to stop! Just check out my portfolio or the print gallery with even more photos. You can also check out this blog post for an idea of how an evening chasing Aurora with me can look like!
We are together a maximum of 4 people (including me) so the tour remains very cosy. This also allows great flexibility on the ground that we can cover to increase our chances to see the Northern Lights!
I will help you with your photography. I will give you tips on composition and on how to set up your camera for Night and Aurora photography. If the Aurora is not dancing, we will learn how to take beautiful pictures of the Milky Way.
You need to bring your own camera and tripod to take pictures. But of course you don’t need to be a photographer to join a tour!
Please note that you need to bring your own cold weather clothes. Usually you get a set from your day activities. Should you not have sufficient clothes, let me know. We can arrange something against a small additional fee.
Our Aurora hunt might last from 3 hours up to the entire night. I will always do my best to give you the best possible experience. I never give an “end time” to our hunt, because if we are under dancing Aurora, who really wants to go back to the hotel?
The price for a full night of Aurora hunting, including hot drinks and some light snacks is, with a pick up in Inari:
Pick-up in Ivalo and Saariselkä are also possible with an additional fee of respectively 25 euros and 45 euros.
We can also plan together a tailor-made trip for you. Please contact me to discuss what you need and I will come up with the best offer for you. I am in close contact with most local tour operators, and can arrange day time activities for you such as husky sled trip, snowmobiling or visiting a reindeer farm.
Please use the contact form on this website for any questions or booking!
You are requested to have your own travel insurance to come on this tour. I will ask you to show me a proof of insurance before we go on this Northern Lights Aurora tour in Lapland Inari. Easiest is to send me a copy before your trip so we don’t have to deal with any administrative issues when we just really want to see Aurora.
When booking online a 20% advance payment is required to guarantee your spot on the tour. I accept Paypal payments or bank transfers. A 6% transaction fee will be asked for all Paypal payments. This advance payment is not refundable, but your reservation is transferable. This means that if you are able to find someone for the same day as you booked they can take the reservation over from you. Please note that different conditions apply for custom-made multi-days tours.
Although I have tremendous experience and success with Aurora hunting, please keep in mind that both weather and aurora are predictable only to a certain level. I cannot guarantee that you will see the Aurora on the trip and in such unfortunate even, no refund can be granted.
Should the weather be really too bad for Aurora hunting (i.e. there are no chances to find clear skies less than a 2 hour drive from Inari), then I will cancel the tour. I never take customers out if I estimate that the chances are too small. In such case, I will reimburse your advance payment. In the very unfortunate event that I would get ill and have to cancel the workshop, all advance payments will be reimbursed.
Under no circumstances will ReZ Photography / Rayann Elzein be liable for any loss or direct, indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages.
By reserving the tour you are acknowledging that you read and agree with these conditions.
